I recently spent one month with the hosts, a special couple, Michael and Dakee, and their sweet, very intelligent, three-year-old daughter, Pema.
I was pleased to find such a reasonably priced home away so close to the lovely city of San Diego. Also, there is full access to the kitchen refrigerator & freezer, microwave and stove and appliances. That is a large convenience when you are staying for an extended period.
My reason for choosing this location is that my husband is currently living in an Assisted Living facility nearby and I wanted to spend some time with him and also look for an apartment.
I was able to make good use of Uber and Lyft cabs to get anywhere I wanted to go at a very reasonable rate. Your cell phone and the Home Away web site are full of articles of what to see and what to do. A stay of a month only glimpses the highlights!
The “taste of Nepal” is a true statement. The walls gathering rooms and bedrooms are covered with samples of wall hangings of Nepal and photographs of family and the Himalayan culture. Thangka paintings are very unique, exotic and enchanting. Just ask the hosts.
My bedroom, near the kitchen, had an adjoining bath and a large window that overlooks the city. The house has several apartments for a larger family. The large kitchen has a very large window to view the city lights at night plus watch airplanes landing at the San Diego airport. As you would expect, our hosts encouraged us to gather in the kitchen area for interesting chats and perhaps even a beer. I quickly felt I knew this family and was quite at home during my stay.
